MOD Cars Cause Problems for Westwells Post Office

Less abled customers are having problems accessing the post office on Westwells Road due to cars parked either side. A worker at the post office opposite MOD Corsham has told the Corsham People the issues some of her customers have been facing, after a significant lack of parking within the newly redesigned base turned Westwells Road into what looks a car park.

The new entrance to MOD Corsham where cones have now been placed to improve visibility for those leaving the site. What do you think of all the parked cars along either side of Westwells Road?
"It's caused great difficulty for some customers," said Mrs Harris who works at the Hawthorn Post Office on Westwells Road. Mrs Harris did highlight that access to the post office was more of a challenge for "some of the pensioners and disabled people" with all of the congestion and parked vehicles.
However, on the brighter note, Mrs Harris added: "It's not as bad today."
Those parking along Westwells Road to gain access to MOD Corsham do "have respect for the parking reserved for customers" at the Post Office, allowing locals to park outside if they want to pop in for a newspaper or a few essentials.
Users of the Corsham People have expressed their concern and anger about Westwells Road being transformed into a one-way street.
Jonyvic added: "A big accident is waiting to happen."
Another user, Terry Reynolds, shared his revealing photographs of the traffic troubles and wrote: "A good suggestion is to put parking metres and charge for parking and then the money could be spent on getting a car park on a MP's garden."

ReportWell, all I can say is well done! I'm glad you got what you wanted. I just feel sorry for whoever the problem lands on now. Don't think it'll go away, it'll just move somewhere else, perhaps somewhere less able to deal with it. The NIMBY's have won, but someone else will lose.

ReportMy mistake, I do have something further to add.
This has just arrived through my postbox in the Corsham Town Council newsletter ...............
"Due to the high level of on street parking taking place on Westwells Road, proposals have been drawn up by Wiltshire Council to formalise a 40mph speed limit along the length of the road and to introduce a number of waiting restrictions. The proposals also include two parking bays, providing eight spaces at the post office, with waiting limited to 30 minutes in any two hours between 8am and 6pm. It's also though that implementing the restrictions will help to improve road safety. The consultation process has commenced and, subject to local support, it's anticipated that the scheme will be put in place in early summer.
