Corsham 10K Race: Get Your Running Shoes Ready
By R_Ferrier | Friday, February 25, 2011, 18:37
The annual Corsham St George's 10K Race returns on May 1st, beginning as usual at the Corsham Town Football Club.
-
Last year's 10K Race. Did you take part or will you be doing so this year?
The 2011 10K run will be the 29th to take place, jointly organised by the Corsham Rotary Club and the Corsham Running Club. Local groups and organisations have been keen to show their support, such as the football and rugby clubs, Sea Scouts, ATC, The Corsham Wind Band and the main sponsor Corsham Print.
Over eight-hundred runners took part in the race last year, establishing the popular event as one of the main annual races in the South West.
The 10K Run has cemented itself as a key part of the Corsham Rotary Club's fundraising calendar. Profits from the 2011 race will go to Prostate Cancer Research, via the Chesledon Urology Fund which is based at the RUH, as well as other local charities. If you have a cause you want to raise money and awareness for, consult the entry form for further details about how you can do this.
Fun runners who want to race in fancy dress are encouraged to so: what will you be dressing up as? This year during the race there will be a barbeque as well as a bar, refreshments, various stalls, pre-race music and entertainment.
Fill out your form and register for the race. The cost in advance is £9 (Affilliated), £11 (Un-Affilliated) or, on the day (by 10am latest) £10 (Affilliated), £12 (Un-Affilliated). You can register online at www.corshamrunningclub.co.uk.
We'll keep you posted on any further details of the event on the Corsham People.
Comments
Last year there were a few knights running the race - brilliant. I hope people dress up this year, but it can't be easy to do the race in something too bulky. I felt sorry enough for the blokes carrying plastic shields and wearing tunics in 2010, but they were fantastic!
