Box children are looking forward to being able to use the tennis courts in the village once more.

The tennis courts in Box will soon be fully resurfaced and ready for use by a number of local groups, their completion having been delayed by poor conditions over the past few months.

Jo French, the Head Teacher for Box Primary School, said: “We’re very much looking forward to using it as soon as possible.”

Fred Sheppard, Chairman of the Box Parish Council, said the work was being completed as soon as possible.

Mr Sheppard said about the renovation of the courts: “It started way back in February but it was held up because of the bad weather. They did the preparation and everything.

"Everything had to be dug out like the post bases, the surrounding edging. That was all done and then it all came to a halt for the weather.”

Snow, sleet, rain and ice – we’ve had it all, but it looks like the villagers, school children and youth groups will soon have their tennis court back.

“Now it’s completed but for the adding of a green colouring to the surface and marking the lines ready for use,” added Mr Sheppard.
