I had a lovely meal at the Methuen Arms with great service. The vegetarian options were different and not the usual goats cheese tart or mushroom risotto. The meat-eaters in our party were also very happy with their meals and I will be going back and recommending this place to my friends. A nice restaurant with a cosy atmosphere and somewhere to go for special events and occasions. Also, great to have a house wine that was enjoyable. Usually you pop into a local place and expect to be handed a glass of vinegar passed off as red wine, but not here!

We had a family meal at the Methuen recently and it was a real treat. Good food and excellent service. Steak and Chips cost £21.50 which I thought was a bit expensive but we don't eat out often. Well worth it for a special occasion.
Cosy inside, nice food which is well-prepared and a good way to really push the boat out and celebrate. I love what the new owners have done to the place and I think it's what Corsham needed. You know what you're getting at The Methuen and it's great service, a friendly and yet inviting atmosphere and a chance to have a nice meal out that isn't too formal but just formal enough.
Popped in for a drink and found the inside looked great but the drink so was expensive! Ended up in a cheaper establishment down the road. Not sure of the layout but I've not seen the dining area, so perhaps it feels more open further into the Methuen. Still, it's great that the building is getting some attention and love these days - it looked so run down before.

Good quality food. Nice atmosphere, but nothing special.
The maitre d' (or whoever he was) was overly familiar for the environment (especially compared with the rest of the staff, who were all very professional), and sort of hovered around awkwardly. They did forget to put the asparagus on my asparagus starter, though, but I found that quite funny as he made a point of telling me that they have the first asparagus of the season... and due to poor description on the menu, my starter and my main were almost identical (with or without asparagus).

ReportIt has stunning decor now that it’s been newly taken over and revamped. The entire place has been totally refurbished and does the historical place justice. Before it was dank and dingy and I’d never go in. Under the new owners (who previously owned the highly successful Pear Tree) it’s a place I enjoy having a drink in and a well prepared, well sourced and well cooked meal.
