No traffic lights for us at Pickwick, but where is our alternative?

The traffic lights near the Hare and Hounds pub are not going to be put up, but where has the money gone that was set aside for their construction?

“All the money that was going to be used for the traffic lights has disappeared back into the MOD,” said Rod Taylor, a Corsham Town Councillor.

If you could decide, how would you like to see it further invested in Corsham to ensure traffic is kept manageable and the roads in good condition? Are they in good condition now?

Adding more bicycle paths or having better pavements to encourage people to walk to work is one option.

In some of the more rural villages the paths alongside the roads disappear altogether, making it dangerous to try and walk or cycle to other parts of the town. Should it be changed or is it fine how it is?

As for the traffic lights, when the building work does finish at Basil Hill, traffic will increase on the roads. With the selling off of other land belonging to the MOD, other developments could increase the traffic on our lanes and streets and there may have to be some changes.

“I’ve got this horrible feeling there’s going to be this, ‘oh my god, look at this traffic’ moment,” added Mr Taylor, “I just hope we’ve made the right decision but only time will tell.”

Have we made the right decision?

I agree with Terry .. if people used the roundabouts properly, traffic flows fine.

It would be great if the money coould be spent on pot holes and improving a few of the roads which need it. But that money for the traffic lights is gone as far as I understand. It'd be better to improve a few of the roads or add cycle paths or something - we should have other options on how that money that would've been used on the traffic lights is spent, shouldn't we?

Improve the bus service.  Why can't the MOD run a bus service for their employees and contractors, surely if traffic is to be reduced this would be the obvious answer.
