Wings and Talons were at Whitehall Garden Centre this Saturday to instruct visitors about the protection of birds of prey.

“My push is conservation,” said Rob Evans who runs Wings and Talons, “We need to look after what’s around us.”

Mr Evans is a fireman by day but his real passion is birds of prey and he runs a falconry experience for any of those who wish to see these beautiful predators in flight.

In Lacock with him was a European Owl, a Little Owl, a Harris Hawk and a Kestrel, each one majestic and enigmatic it’s easy to see why Mr Evans is so fond of them and ensuring creatures such as these continue to exist. Picture is Rob Evans with his kestrel, Rio.

Mr Evans said he was, “looking to begin a nature trail,” which would involve the grounds of Whitehall Garden Centre and hopefully encourage both the young and old to observe the nature around them and how special it is.

There is a danger that, with so many barn and loft conversions leading to many habitats being destroyed, these wonderful birds could be one day gone from the skies.

Bird boxes and bug boxes were another point of discussion where he said: “Let’s repair what we are doing.”

Keep an eye out for future Wings and Talons events at Whitehall Garden Centre and find out what you can do to preserve the wildlife of Wiltshire.
