Significant snowfall is expected to bring Corsham to another standstill. The Wiltshire Police and Met Office have released weather warnings, the latter giving a severe weather warning to the South West.

It is anticipated that around five centimetres of snow will fall in the Wiltshire area but higher areas in the county could reach as much to fifteen centimetres tonight and tomorrow.

There should be a gradual improvement on Wednesday with snow soon becoming sleet and then rain.

Slightly milder temperatures should begin on Thursday and continued until the weekend, though frosts will continue overnight. There might still be problems for early morning drivers due to such conditions.

The stock of salt and grit within the county has been described as “adequate” but few of Corsham’s rural roads have been gritted and the pavements still remain slippery and difficult to navigate safely.

Hard shoulders on the M4 are not being gritted and the Wiltshire Police have asked that drivers take particular care whilst on the road, especially when following overnight frosts.

So far as yet there have been no reported incidents of emergency service providers being unable to respond to calls of help due to the weather.

Though weather conditions may improve slightly after Wednesday, the force has asked people to be conscious of those neighbours who are elderly of vulnerable.
