Now that we’ve had the plastic lion in Corsham for a number of

weeks, what do you think about it?

The lion, situated just before the entrance to the Martingate

Shopping Centre in Corsham when approaching from the high street, is the same

as those dotted around the nearby city of Bath.

I have already spotted children grinning or patting the little

plastic creature or passersby giving it a friendly tap on the head. Does anyone

know if our Corsham lion has a name?

The lions in Bath are sponsored by local businesses and will be

on display until September. They will then be auctioned off as the popular pigs

were which were littered about the city streets in 2008. Each of the lions is

painted differently in the city.

There are some stood proudly in parks, looking out of shop

windows or standing above shop displays and looking out to those wandering the streets

below. Do you have a favourite?

If you could decorate a lion, what would you put on it? A

peacock theme to coincide with Corsham In Bloom? A painting of an important

part of Corsham’s history such as the Corsham Alms Houses?

Comment below and tell us what you would paint on the lion.

I like the lion, there is one in Bath with a dress on asking 'Does my bum look big in this' and also a lovely rainbow one. Such a shame the youths have to do that to the lion - hope it comes to life one night and chases them up the high street - when is the next full moon?
