Last Saturday the Corsham Sci-Fi Family Funday took place at the Corsham Community Centre and raised thousands of pounds for local charities.

Ghostbusters, aliens galore and so much more. The event was a brilliant success.
“It was crazy, absolutely crazy; I never expected so many people or such a good turnout,” said Matt Booker, one of the organisers of the funday who has been getting a brilliant response from people about the Sci-Fi Event. “It was just an insane turnout.”
Already people have been asking when the next big Sci-Fi Event is taking place which is bound to be just as spectacular. With Daleks, Jedis, Storm Troopers, Ghost Busters and more, there was a huge amount of local people there with many people dressing up or getting involved.
From science fiction celebrities to local artists; there was so much to do and see and it truly brought the local community (and some from further afield) together.
The Wiltshire Scrapstore was involved, encouraging children to make their own Daleks out of recycled materials but that wasn’t all. Local artists had their own stalls and there was a costume competition as well as further events throughout the action packed day.
“A big thanks to Rudloe Park Hotel for donating rooms and to the Manor Garage in Box who paid for the venue,” added Matt.
The money raised at the event is close to £3,500 for the British Heart Foundation, Marie Curie and PHAB.

What an enjoyable event. The little kids and big kids had the best time, the daleks where wonderful and very entertaining. So looking forward to the next Sci-Fi funday my family are dressing up as crew members of the Star Ship Enterprise.
