Police Tackling of Anti-Social Behaviour in Corsham. Is it an issue?

The handling of anti-social behaviour complaints by the police is under scrutiny today after new figures were brought into the public eye. Is anti-social behaviour a problem in Corsham?

It was revealed that officers do not visit 23 per cent of those who complain about anti-social behaviour in the country.

The new information is due to the publishing of ‘report cards’ by the inspectorate on the performance of 43 forces.

It was found that the way in which police databases logged information meant that computer systems were not able to identify those people who had been victims of anti-social behaviour in the past.

Are the Corsham police doing enough? Have you ever reported an incident of anti-social behaviour that was not explored further by the police?

The police station in Corsham, situated in Priory Street, does not have a reception and if you needed to contact a local police officer you are then directed to the regional control centre in Devizes: 0845 408 7000.

Where in the town do yobs hang out and cause problems or is it that young people need more to do in the area? I have not come across a lot in the way of anti-social behaviour in Corsham, but is it a problem in some parts of the town?

When you think about it, aside from the skate park and possibly the odd youth group, what can young people do in the Corsham area? The main anti-social issue I’ve noticed are ‘boy-racers’ hurtling down small country roads.

That's horrible to hear of some gangs in the town centre acting up. Can't anything be done about it? I've seen police patrols out now and again but only in the early afternoon when most kids are in school. Maybe there should be regular police out and about more in Corsham because I'd feel intimidated with that kind of behaviour outside my house.

Also there are so many people on mobiles - even those driving large and heavy tractors down country lanes. It doesn't seem safe at all to be operating such dangerous machinery and talking on a phone as well?

I agree that this is an issue in Corsham. Living directly in the town centre, I often have to put up with yobs hanging around outside on town, shouting, swearing and generally causing trouble. Some of them even think that it's acceptable to urinate on the steps outside my flat.
I really think that more should be done to discourage this behaviour as it is at times makes me feel unsafe in my own home and can be extremely unpleasant for residents here, especially those with small children and babies such as myself.
