A new photography exhibition called 'Abelardo Morell - Through the Camera's Eye' is featuring at the Fox Talbot Museum at Lacock Abbey, starting on Saturday 4th July.

A camera obscura has been used to tilt landscapes and cityscapes on their heads and beam them into internal rooms, as detailed in a press release on the project. The camera obscura is one of the inventions leading to modern photography at we know it today.

Roger Watson, Curator of the museum, described a hands-on example also featuring at Lacock Abbey with a new room-sized mobile camera obscura on the grounds from Monday 6th July. It will allow visitors to gain further insight into photography and see a new angle to the property and how photography is entrenched in the history of Lacock Abbey.

Mr. Watson described  how the exhibition seeks to challenge ones original perceptions of an image: "The cityscape or landscape you see appears to be upside down, but at a second glance you'll see that there are some objects in the images that are right side up too."

With the success of the ingenious 'Alice in Wonderland' exhibition last year which provoked much interest and sparked imaginations, 'Abelardo Morell - Through the Camera's Eye' has been long anticipated and the wait looks worthwhile.

Both the exhibition and the mobile camera obscura will continue until Sunday 13th December. Further information is on the National Trust's Fox Talbot Museum website. Visiting Lacock Abbey is free to National Trust members but admission prices will apply to non-National Trust members. Images courtesy of the Artist and the Bonni Benrubi Gallery

On until 13th December. The name of the exhibition sounds like an average morining getting dressed with maybe a back-to-front thrown in there!
