For the second month in a row house prices in the country have risen, in August by 0.8% compared with July.
Over the last twelve months there has been a decrease in the average value of a property.
In the South West last month there was a change of 1.4% in house prices the Land Registry said.
Jeff Lewis, an estate agent from Straker’s in Corsham, shared his opinion on house prices and sales in the area.
He said: “The market this year generally has been very good.”
Compared with property values last year, however, prices are significantly lower than last year. According to the BBC, Various surveys from Halifax and Nationwide have suggested that a lack of supply of housing and an increase in demand has currently pushed up prices.
Mr. Lewis said, “Generally the market is stronger,” and also that there is, “much more confidence in the market and if the price is right there will be a buyer.”

Are you in the market for a new property or is yours up for sale? What have your experiences been in the area and are you optimistic that the housing market will pick up?
Comments
Houses will continue to be ridiculously over-priced unless/until a lot more houses are built. While most of our politicians have much of their money in property (often paid for by us taxpayers) it's unlikely they'll do anything about it. It's very depressing indeed especially for anyone wanting to own their own home for the first time.
