Gastard Village Fete Needs Volunteers
By R_Ferrier | Monday, July 06, 2009, 16:30
The Gastard Village Fete is slowly approaching with preparations already underway but few have volunteered to help so far, making plans more difficult to see through than anticipated.
A Victorian theme has been announced for the day which will take place on September 5th and those attending are requested to dress up.
The poor weather at last year’s fete dampened the spirits of those attending and hopes are high that it will be less of a washout this year.
The event is to take place in the grounds of the Harp and Crown in the centre of the village on the outskirts of Corsham town at 1.30pm and continue well into the afternoon.
This year sees the Novelty Dog Show return as well as the bucking rodeo bull and bouncy castle. The usual raffle includes a helicopter flight, a signed Bath rugby shirt, half a pig and further prizes.
A Children’s Disco has been organised from 6pm – 8pm but after that it is the turn of the grown-ups to have a boogie when the Adult’s Disco takes over to last from 8pm until “whenever”.There is still a chance to help out and get involved by contacting the secretary of the Village Hall Committee, John Varley at varley.john@googlemail.com.
