Did you spot Corsham on Countryfile at the weekend? Corsham

played a starring role in the programme with presenter Matt Baker exploring the

town and meeting local people.

The folly of Corsham Court was pointed out by John Coppin as

both he and the presenter ambled around the picturesque streets in Mr Coppin’s

classic car.

The episode is still on BBC’s iPlayer for those who want to watch

it and spot their local businesses or homes. The Flemish Weaver was twice in

the background of the episode, as was the Town Hall and Coppin Jewellers.

There was also the mention of Corsham being used as a filming

location. Being quite close to Lacock (where numerous films such as ‘The Other

Boleyn Girl’, ‘Harry Potter’ and 'Cranford') have been set, our town can often

feel as though it’s slightly overshadowed by the little village.

Is all that about to change? We’ve already had ‘Lark Rise to

Candleford’ filming one part of their episode in the grounds of Corsham Court,

but will there be many more camera crews visiting our little town?

Which locations in Corsham do you think would make a good film

set? I’d like to see the Flemish Weaver used in something as it’s a lovely

little pub. Also the Two Pigs has that period drama feel to it and a lot of history already. The Corsham

Alms Houses would make a brilliant film-set as would the centre of Biddestone.

Know of any more places or properties you think would make a

good filming location?

The Wiltshire Times also provided the number and contact

details of Sarah Eastel Locations who runs a film location business. Local

residents or businesses who would like to offer their property as a possible

filming location can contact her on: 01225 858100 or alternatively by sending

an email to info@film-locations.co.uk.
