Has Corsham Gone Quackers?

In a highly controversial move reported by thisiswiltshire.co.uk, a Corsham pensioner has been banned from feeding ducks. Harry Metcalf has been feeding the ducks at Pockeridge Lakes for the last ten years, but Chippenham Angling Club has now laid down the law and banned him from doing so.
The Club alleges that Mr Metcalf, who is 70 years old, has been regularly appearing at the lakes with bin bags filled with bread. Apparently this excessive quantity of duck food attracts rats and lowers the oxygen levels in the lakes, which is killing the fish. According to the Club, the lakes had to be closed for the first two weeks of June in order to allow the algae levels in the lakes to correct themselves, again as a result of bread binges.
In a striking move by the Club, they have even written to Mr Metcalf’s bread suppliers requesting that they cease furnishing him with ammunition to destroy the fish.
As a result of all this, Mr Metcalf has been denied what he claims is his one pleasure in life. And as he points out, if he stops feeding the ducks then they might die for lack of food, especially in the winter months.
Where do you stand in the battle for the Lakes? Do you support the dastardly duck-feeder? Or are you a fan of the fearsomely officious fishermen?

Dependent on us for food maybe! Our towns are the artificial part but we still want to see wildlife. If we want ducks to stop they have to know that its worth while.

ReportI think Mr Metcalf needs to get some perspective. Feeding wild animals is rarely a good idea, they become dependent on it.
