The French Market stretched along the cobbled high street of Corsham today, splashed with sunshine and colour when the cloud cover ceased and wafting a scent of garlic and French cuisine through the town.Street entertainers were out in full force, performing and spreading laughter and some confusion. The rumours from the Corsham Community Fringe proved to be correct: Ustinov and Macadam, a comedic pair, were present on the scene. There was a small incident with a traffic cone in which one of the contemporary performers had momentarily got himself stuck. They gained a mass of fans and applause and no traffic cones were hurt during the sketch. It's also suspected that the pair are battery powered judging on further eccentric behaviour. Residents were dressed as Frenchman on bicycles with large black moustaches and baguettes entertained the crowds of people who turned up. Shop stalls and bric-a-brac was on sale as well as locally produced food which was a real celebration of Corsham's roots blended with other influences.Transition Community Corsham also had a stall, giving out information about ways to make positive changes about global issues affecting our day to day lives.  The French Market proved to be a colourful and vibrant  ending to what has been a fantastic week, knitting together all the different strands of Corsham life as well as introducing  an exotic flare. Tonight sees the festival's final act with Caratinga performing at the Pound Arts Centre which looks to be a spectacular finish.

Corsham is packed full of village fêtes through-out the summer and as they come up they'll be put on the website.

The Pounds Arts Centre which organised the Corsham Festival has a number of on-going events always at the Pound Pill which are always worth a look. The Pig & Jig as well as the Hog & Hoe Down are coming up so there's plenty going on to help us make the most of the good weather, provided it stays good.

I love french food and it's always fun when Corsham gets together to have fun.  Bring on next year.

Ustinov and Macadam were so funny - like Borat come to Corsham.

French Market was so much better than I thought it would be - but I only heard about it last minute on their website. Glad it's getting some coverage too.
