Corsham Festival: A Cultural Cocktail

Music, dance, theatre, laughter and soul: a cultural cocktail of ingredients comprising what looks to be another dazzling Corsham Festival. From street acts to comedians to classical music performances, this year is set to be bigger and brighter than those before it with the familiar, blended in with a new concoction experiences which celebrate the diversity and yet tradition that is the basis of this town on the edge of the Cotswolds. The Pounds Arts Centre, at the hub of the Corsham Festival, has gone all out to ensure an enriching and unforgettable week for all those caught up in the event. The Rubbish Heads were prowling the high street on Saturday, the opening of the festival, strewing litter about and causing a stir but soon cleaning up after themselves. The powerful message was clear and entertaining at the same time.Bojangles, string quartet with a wickedly brilliant edge of spicing together mixes of music to suit even the most difficult of tastes, were giving rhythm to shoppers strolling along the cobblestones in the same high street that the Rubbish Heads had previously tidied up. It is but a taste of what is yet to come throughout the rest of the week, the variety adding a new spice to Corsham-life. Martin Campbell, 23, behind the scenes and helping to organise the events said: “We’re all quite excited and we’ve had a brilliant kick-start to the festival. We were sold out for Antonio and everyone was buzzing afterwards.”The good weather has also helped to get people outside, enjoying the sunshine and lapping up the street theatre which continues to run throughout the week. The Pounds Arts Centre in Corsham has more details about events running throughout the festival on their website.

I remember last year's festival, the weather wasn't too great, but my Scarecrow outfit kept me warm - though it wasn't too popular amongst the pea****. Really looking forward to this year's, especially the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. Outfit ideas anyone?
