The last Budget before the election is being announced today, but what does that mean for us in Corsham?
-
Will you be tracking the general election this year?
The chancellor, Alistair Darling, is going to announce that stamp duty will be scrapped on house purchases up to £250,000 for first-time buyers.
The BBC commented that this was similar to what the Conservatives proposed in 2007 for those wanting to get onto the property market.
It is unlikely that any tax rises and spending cuts will be outlined ahead of the election expected to be held at the beginning of May.
There are expectations that the Budget will outline a plan for the future with money invested in broadband for all, high-speed rail and digital jobs.
The government borrowing for 2009-10, as suggested by newly gathered figures, say it is nearer to £170bn, lower than predicted due to lower than expected unemployment.
How has the last year been for you with the unexpected unemployment figures? Have you struggled finding a job in the local area?
Will you be keeping track of the action today?
How much will what is announced today affect how you vote in the upcoming general election?
The BBC have a page where you can follow all the Budget day action, but are there any other handy links or useful pages online that you’re fond of tracking?
