Jenny Hartless, a Parish Council Officer for Box Village, spoke of the service that Geoff Cleverley had given.
“Geoff Cleverley is our street cleaner, which he has been doing now for about ten years and he’s just reached the age of eighty,” said Mrs Hartless, “Basically what the council are doing are giving him a small presentation and appreciation of thanks.”
She added that Mr Cleverley, who has just turned 80, is going to continue with his valued work, but was going to be doing it for only a few days a week.
“At half past seven, before the meeting starts, we’re just going to present him with something.”
A collection was made in the Parish and its shops for Mr Cleverly in honour of his amazing work.
“He does the whole Parish – he does everything - all the way up to Rudloe,” added Mrs Hartless, “He comes up with his wheelbarrow and brush and everything. Goes to Kingsdown and Ashley and all the way up to the A4.”
Box village council also thanks everyone for their kind donations towards Geoff’s presentation.
