Blue Year's Eve at Corsham Cricket Club

Corsham People can exclusively
reveal today that blues rock band Corinthian Casuals are set to lead the New
Year celebrations at Corsham Cricket Club on 31 December.
Speaking at a press conference
from the the Jaipur Indian restaurant in the centre of the town this week, the
band, consisting of singer and guitarist Stu Joslin, lead guitarist Alex Mitchell, new bass guitarist John Boddington
and drummer Tom Page, confirmed that they will be appearing at the Station Road
club to see in 2010 after a successful show at the same venue earlier this
year.
Singer Joslin commented: “We
played at the club in March this year and we really enjoyed it, it’s always
nice to play in your home town, especially when you play most of your gigs in
different places. So when they asked us to come back for New Year’s Eve, we
didn’t think twice before saying yes.”
The Casuals have played at the
Harp and Crown in Gastard on the last three consecutive New Year’s Eves, but
decided that this year should be a little different. “The Harp were always
excellent to us and we’ve had some really good shows up there in the past, but
after we’d played at the Cricket Club and we had an excellent turn out (over
one hundred people attended), we knew that it was the way forward!” said
Mitchell.
A brief return for former bass
player Max Goff, who left the band to attend university in London last month, is also rumoured as he is
due to visit the area for the festive season. His replacement, John Boddington,
said: “It’s been a blast filling Max’s shoes and playing bass in the band, but
it would be really nice to see him on stage with the guys again for a few
tracks, even if it has only been four months!”
Also confirmed for the evening is
Emma Johnson, a superb young singer songwriter whose critically acclaimed debut
album, “On Cloud Nine”, is available on iTunes now. Drummer Page added: “Emma
is fantastic and it’s an absolute privilege to have her performing with us once
again. She adds another dimension to the show and her original stuff is
brilliant. I’m really looking forward to seeing her.”
Keep an eye out for full details of
the show which will be announced through Facebook and flyers posted in various
places throughout the town later on this month. Entry will be free.

ReportNew Year and the Corinthian Casuals is the way to go. It was brilliant being at the Harp and Crown if a little crowded at times so it sounds like a great idea that it's moving to a bigger venue! Something to look forward to!
