Young Air Cadets have been deprived of summer-fun after a break-in at their hut in Rudloe.

Wiltshire Police Officers from Corsham alongside the Ministry of Defence Police are working together and appealing for witnesses after the Air Cadet hut on the outskirts of Corsham, was broken into.

Money amounting to £400 which was intended for group activities for the cadets was stolen.

The break-in occurred between the 22nd and the 29th June where the offenders failed in their attempts to open two windows but managed to gain access through a third by levering it open.

Inspector Kate Pain, Sector Head for Corsham, has asked anyone with information to come forward. She said: “Whilst this offence may not appear to be the most serious, this will cause a great deal of distress to the local Cadet force.”

There is no surveillance equipment in the vicinity of the burglarly and so far as yet, local enquiries have been unsuccessful but officers believe that someone living locally may know the offender or any information which may assist the on-going enquiries.

Those members of the public who may have any information which could help in identifying the offenders or who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of the cadet hut, are asked to contact Constable Lee Maplesden, Ministry of Defence Police, on 01225 81277.

This is a sad crime. I hope the cadets can get some money back so that their summer isn't lost.
