marathon in aid of charity last Bank Holiday Monday. Box Rocks, taking place on
the 30th of August, proved as much a hit this year as it has before,
with eight bands playing in total.
James Creighton, who works at the Queen’s Head, said: “It went
really well, so far we’ve raised £2,700 and hoping for more stuff from what’s
yet to be counted. All the bands played really well, the audience loved every band.”
Box Rocks has been going for seventeen years, drawing locals to
the popular pub on the outskirts of Corsham for a good night with a good
atmosphere. If you went, tell us how you found the evening and what you most
enjoyed about it.
The event was from 2.00pm to 10.30pm, featuring the bands The
Bourbons, Recode, The Every Day Symphony, First Offence, The Mighty Rooster,
Funkensteins, The Will Blake Band and Hits of the ‘60s with the Rockin Horrors. Which was your
favourite? Check out their MySpace pages for a taste of their music.
Money raised at the event is donated to the Forever Friends
Appeal which raises funds for state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities
for the Royal United Hospital, an acute district general hospital for Bath,
surrounding towns and villages in Somerset and West Wiltshire.

Got to disagree with dotnetnutty here. Was there from about 5pm until my girlfriend and I took to the stage to play in the Rockin' Horrors for the grand finale and I fully enjoyed all the music that was on offer. That said, a lot of my friends were playing too in the different bands, so maybe I'm biased a little bit!
It's not meant to be Glastonbury (thank Christ) - just a fun day with lots of different bands to watch and the objective of trying to make as much money as possible for a brilliant cause. Lighten up a bit mate!

ReportI was there, but sadly have to say I was rather disappointed. I've been to about a dozen music festivals this year and would put this near the bottom. That's not to say it was rubbish and I'd probably go back, but it could have been so much better.
