Chairman for Corsham in Bloom, Ruth Hopkinson, expanded on
-
What do you think of the Peacock theme and have you spotted it about the town?
the ideas and themes surrounding Corsham In Bloom this year. Activities have
been taking place and are being planned around the town to show the town at its
most vibrant and brightest. If you know or have been involved in one then share
it with us.
"What happens with the South West in Bloom and Britain
in Bloom is that different towns and villages are put into categories with
similar sized dwelling places," said Mrs Hopkinson. "It's like the
Chelsea Flower Show, it's not a competition."
The town has been rather successful in recent years the
Chairman explained: "We have had a
mixture of Silver and Silver Gilt." The aim is for a Silver Gilt this year
and to achieve it a new theme is being tried and tested: "We have a theme
and that theme is peacocks. The idea is that the planting scheme actually
reflects the sort of colours in a peacock."
The rich and deep greens, blues and various other colours
associated with the peacock will be draped around the town in various planters
and boarders and you can get involved.
"It's not a town councillor run thing but we meet at
the town council," said Mrs Hopkinson, "If anyone wishes to get
involved they can contact me through the town council."
The chairman added: "We are trying to get as many
people involved as possible."
