Spring has sprung in nearby Castle Combe and where better to appreciate it than the meandering walks around the village? With footpaths dotted by violets, daffodils, buds bulging on trees and spectacular views, make the most of the sunshine and visit the tourist spot right on your doorstep.

Here’s a walk through the woodland surrounding the village to inspire you to soak up the Spring sunshine:

Walking from the main car park at the top of the village, take the steep path left at the first bridleway and public footpath. The rocky and uneven surface twists upwards and branches off into numerous paths. The second right from the path leads to a flat footpath where glimpses of the village are just visible through the bare branches this time of year.

Follow the footpath, through the kissing gate and along a path which offers views of the sloping valley below and a few grassy areas which are perfect picnic spots. Keep following the path and the arrows as you pass a few hamlets, where in the distance lingers the A420, before meeting a narrow road.

Turn left down the sloping road and you’ll find the village of Ford which you should walk towards and on the left, down a quiet little road, The White Hart at Ford. After a cup of tea and a nice relaxing rest in the pub garden, sat next to the stream curling round the pub, it’s time for a slow walk back.

Check out some photos in our gallery which reveal more of the walk or suggest your own walking routes.
