Keep Your Corsham Home Warm This Winter

Winter is coming but is your house prepared to keep in the warmth and ward off the cold closing in outside? Proper insulation, boilers and heating are just a number of things you need to think about.

Don't be caught out in the cold this winter: make sure your Corsham home stays warm.
The Gas Safe Register lists those local accredited gas people in the area, such as Rudloe Stoneworks Ltd and ATM Heating and Plumbing Services. It is vital to ensure that gas safety is a priority in the home, as a number of risks can crop up if gas appliances have been badly fitted or poorly serviced, such as gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. Always ensure you use a Gas Safe Registered engineer to service, fit or repair your gas appliances.
The FMB (Federation of Master Builders) website also has a lot of information on insulation experts in your area. If your house is properly insulated, it will be more efficient and cost-effect to run the heating system.

We use Watson for our oil - it's usually pretty good. I hadn't thought about switching to vegetable oil; that sounds interesting and better for the environment? As for chimney engineers, there might be some listed in the directory in the 'Tradesman' section of the site: http://tinyurl.com/3977wmp

ReportOur house doesn't have a gas main, so we usually buy oil. The price zooms up and down but is not too bad at the moment, though I wish I knew how to switch over to used vegetable oil from a local restaurant, if it doesn't make our house smell like a chippy! The local suppliers usually have competitive prices and always have friendly helpful drivers: we often use Silvey, Martin's, and Watson, or if we can plan ahead, we order through the Boiler Juice website which shops around suppliers like Emo/Shell.
Meanwhile, we want to bring the chimney back into service to burn wood on an open fire. Can anyone recommend a local sweep or chimney engineer to give our place the once over?
