Why can't people in Corsham Drive properly?!

I was on my way to work yesterday and was using the crossing with traffic lights by Davies and Davies estate agents, the lights had gone red and the green man was flashing me to cross, i looked to my right and the person there had stopped, i looked to my left and someone was just passing the bus stop and i thought that they'll see the light so it will be fine, i was half way across and this person clearly wasn't paying any attention to the road and nearly didn't stop!

On the news it was saying about trying to stop people wearing ipods as that is a result of accidents as the pedestrain isn't paying attention - how about people who don't bother to stop at red lights!!!

has anyone else had this or is it just me as that has happened twice on that crossing within the past two weeks!

From your comment you did everything right stopped and looked and waited. Last week a young lady walked straight onto the crossing by the library wearing headphones. She appeared from nowhere out of a group of people standing talking by the crossing and I had to stop suddenly. Crossing the road involves a responsibility on the part of the pedestrian to look and see if it is safe and not just walk out into the road. In the situation you were involved in the driver clearly was not paying attention to the traffic lights. The scariest thing I saw recently was an elderly lady driving the wrong way around the roundabout by the Hare and Hounds smiling and singing away. Also had a very near death experience stepping onto the pavement by the Alms Houses due a driver going too fast and driving up onto the pavement itself I suspect she was on her mobile phone.
