The Traffic Calming trial in South Place starts today - this is a 2 week trial of a road narrowing scheme that would allow for improved cycle and pedestrian passing. This would be part of the Town Cycle Network allowing safer cycling from the Town Centre and in this case the Primary Schools and then hopefully reducing the number of car journeys. Effects of the trial will be monitored (particularly the school run times) but if you have any related comments on the impact or the intention of the traffic calming in South Place then please feed them in - they will be added to the monitored count and results.

I understand the plans but a priority switch needs to happen between the morning and evening peak times.

The trial made Corsham traffic 10 times worse than normal! Some days the traffic was backed right back past the health centre! Coupled with the temporary traffic lights in Pickwick my husband had to leave the house 10 minutes earlier than normal last week! Surely traffic that bad has a poor effect on the school run too, not just for parents who are stuck in it but also for people trying to cross roads too as with that much traffic it makes it difficult to see whats coming in the other direction. Please dont make it a permanent feature!
