The victims used their cards at cash machines which then claimed their bank card had been retained by the machine.
When the victims contacted their banks they were told a large amount of money had been withdrawn from their accounts.
Both incidents happened between 4:15pm and 5:45pm Saturday, 9, June 2012.
The first incident was reported at a HSBC cash point in the High Street, Corsham and the second incident happened at a Lloyd's TSB cash point, Trowbridge.
The incident in Corsham occurred when a female used her card at a HSBC cash point and a statement came on the screen to say her card had been retained.
After contacting her bank, the female was told around £800 was taken from her account.
The second victim in Trowbridge put her card in the machine when a message came up saying the machine was shutting down and her cash withdrawal had been declined.
The victim in Trowbridge was also aware of a man pacing up and down behind her who then offered her a card with a number that she could contact regarding her lost card. The woman refused to take this from him.
After contacting her bank she was told £930 was withdrawn from her bank account.
PC Richard Gardner from the Crime Management Team said: "These crimes have impacted greatly on the victims who have lost a considerable amount of money."
"In these two cases we think that a false front has been placed over the cash machine and the card has been captured in between this false front and the machine," He added.

All information is handled in confidence.
