There is a vacancy for a parent governor at Corsham School, and parents, foster-parents and guardians who would like to be appointed have been invited to put their names forward.

"If there are more parents or guardians offering to serve than there are vacancies, there will be an election by secret ballot," explained Linda Millward, Clerk to the Governors, on the Corsham School blog.

If you wish to stand for election as a parent governor, you will need to be proposed by a parent of a student registered at the school and to be seconded by another parent of a pupil registered at the school.

Linda continued: "The proposer and seconder should indicate their support for your candidature by signing the nomination form."

All nominations should be returned to Linda Millward via the school by Friday 30th September 2011.

"It should be noted that anyone who is an undischarged bankrupt or has been convicted of certain criminal offences is disqualified from being a school governor.  Other disqualifications include anyone who is liable to be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983(a)."
