A local group against a new housing estate which may be built in Lacock are encouraging residents in North Wiltshire and further afield to protect the Lacock Parish. Tell us what you think of the proposal in the box below.

"Wiltshire Council are proposing a massive expansion of Chippenham that will see thousands of new people moving to the town," wrote a spokesperson for Save Lacock on the website found here, "They are planning to achieve this by building thousands of new houses and a large scale industrial estate in the Parish of Lacock! Famed worldwide for the setting of films like Harry Potter, the rural setting of Lacock Parish is in danger of being destroyed if these plans are approved."

The Showell Protection group have put together the website which informs those who are against the housing estate proposal what they can do to air their objections and get their voice heard. The group is comprised of all the non-landowners in the hamlet of Showell in the Lacock Parish.

Listed on the Save Lacock site are a number of reasons why these plans should be opposed, including: "Lacock Parish is not part of Chippenham, it is part of the Corsham area. Hands off Lacock!"

Do you agree with these objections? Do we need another housing estate nearby? Do you think a housing estate in the Lacock Parish would greatly impact the place? Share your view in the comment box below.
