Corsham Youth Council has launched a survey asking 10-18 year olds who live or go to school in the town for their views on the facilities available for young people in Corsham. What do you think about the facilities in Corsham for young people? Is there anything you would like to see in the town?

Areas covered in the survey include the Play Areas, Local Transport, and Leisure, as well as a number of questions about ideas for the new Community Campus.

The Youth Council is made up of representatives from Corsham's primary schools and The Corsham School. This is the second time in the three years since it was formed that CYC has run a survey. The main outcome of the 2009 one was the need for a cinema – and Corsham Cinemania, run by The Pound Arts Centre and supported by the Town Council, was the result.

"Proving," says Town Councillor Ruth Hopkinson who helps to run the Youth Council, "that the views of our young people are listened to and acted on. The Youth Council plays a really important role in Corsham and the results of the survey will help the Youth Councillors and the Town Councillors look at what facilities our young people are asking for and what we can do to help."

Copies of the survey have been sent to the town's schools, and are also available at various shops in the town centre and from the Town Hall. The survey can also be downloaded via the Town Council's website at www.corsham.gov.uk.

Completed surveys need to be returned to the Town Hall by Friday 9 December 2011. The results will be announced via the Town Council's website in February 2012 and in the Spring Newsletter delivered to all households in early April.

The cinema is great but it's a shame they can't get current films so us locals didn't have to go all the way to Bath to watch a film. Wasn't there plans to build a cinema nearish Chippenham?

The kids have parks and the skate parks but this is a rural area - we're not going to have all the stuff the big cities have and a good thing too.
