Corsham: Wiltshire Council calls for potential councillors to come forward

Wiltshire Council are encouraging anyone interested in becoming a local councillor ahead of May 2013's local elections to attend sessions running across the county.

Wiltshire Council is asking potential local councillors to come forward.
Anyone who wishes to run as a local councillor are being invited to attend sessions which are happening across Wiltshire to learn more about what it takes to become one.
Council Leader Jane Scott said: "This is an exciting opportunity for people to become more involved in local democracy by standing for election and providing leadership in their local community."
The sessions will be running during Local Democracy Week, Monday, 15, October until Friday, 19, October 2012.
The sessions will be held at the following places:
Monday, 15, October 2012- Civic Centre, Trowbridge
Tuesday, 16, October 2012- City Hall, Salisbury
Wednesday, 17, October 2012- Town Hall, Chippenham
Thursday, 18, October 2012- Corn Exchange, Devizes
All sessions begin at 7pm.
"It would be great to see a diverse cross section of our county represented at the next May's elections, and these roadshows will give people a better insight of what being a councillor is all about," Jane Scott added.
