Corsham St George's race in aid of local resident

Corsham's St George's 10K race will be taking place again this year which will be dedicated to one of Corsham's local residents.

The St Georges 10K race will be held at Corsham Football Club, Lacock Road, Corsham.
Martin O' Shea who has worked as a postman and firefighter was diagnosed with Motor Neurons Disease. Money raised by participants will be donated to the MNDA charity which support sufferers and their families as well as developing research for a cure.
The race will start and finish at Corsham Town Football Club, Lacock Road. There will also be an additional 2K race at Corsham Court.
The race has been running for thirty years and saw 830 people take part in last year's race raising over £5,000 for various charities.
Cash prizes will be given to the two fastest men and two fastest women. Trophies will also be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Each runner will receive a goody bag for participating in the event.
In a statement released by organisers they said: "With nearly 900 runners in 2012, race organisers believe that this year's race could break the 1000 mark for the first time, especially as so many people will want to support 'Martin's Charity'"
The race is organised by the Rotary Club of Corsham, Corsham Running Club with local support including the football and rugby clubs, Sea Scouts, Air Training Corp, The Corsham Wind Band with the main sponsors Hunter French, Corsham Print and other local businesses.
Fancy dress with the theme of 'St George' is highly recommended for the race.
Stalls, a BBQ and entertainment will also be running throughout the event.
There is a restriction of 1000 runners for the event so it is advised to book early. The cost is £11 in advance (Affiliated) or £13 (Un-Affiliated) or on the day before 10am £13 (Affiliated) or £15 (Un-Affiliated). To register visit the Corsham Running Club here.
The event will take place Sunday, 28, April 2013 and the race will begin at 11am. The additional race at Corsham Court will begin at 9:45am.
