Friday 2nd December was Corsham's Christmas lights switch-on outside of the town hall. Local charities were out and about, local businesses manned stalls, hundreds of locals turned up and there was plenty to delight both young and old. Were you at this year's lights switch-on?

When asked about how the event was going, a spokesman from the local branch of the Guide Dog Charity said: "Fantastic. The dogs are always an attraction."

There were plenty of four-legged friends at the lights switch-on, as well as reindeer!

Strakers estate agents were handing out goodies from their stall and a spokeswoman from the company said: "We're really new to the town. We want to tell everyone why we are here and to give out valuations and help people sell their houses."

Automattic Comics was at the event with Star Wars characters, including Darth Vader and Chewbacca. Owner of the local comic book and toy shop Matt Booker said it was "really busy" and that the Sci-Fi Group had so far this year raised "just shy" or £10,000 for charity. You can support them in 2012 at the Corsham Sci-Fi Family Funday

The Wiltshire Scrapstore had brought along Barty's Scrap Mobile; a zebra-striped bus which showcased all the fun and craft possibilities the scrapstore has to offer. "It's been brilliant," said the Scrapstore staff as they manned the bus, "People are hopping on the bus and are thrilled with what they see."

Did you feel the Christmas spirit in Corsham on Friday and what do you think of the glittering lights this year?

Overheard by one passerby was the comment, "I have never seen so many people in Corsham." What is the best Corsham Christmas lights switch-on you've been to and how does this year rank for you?

It was so packed this year. It was good to see people out in the town but you could barely move. There were SO many parents with giant pushchairs who tried to ram them through the crowd. Why bring a huge and unweilding pushchair to a packed place like that?
